DeFuniak Springs, Florida, May 24, 2010 – Lyle Seigler, County Administrator gave an update on the ongoing transportation projects in Walton County at The Alliance’s Quarterly Roundtable Breakfast. Mr. Seigler encouraged the audience by announcing, “I am hopeful that segment of Highway 331 South from Owls’ Head to Edgewood Circle will go out to bid for construction before the end of the calendar year.” He addressed fifty attendees last week during the Walton County Economic Development Alliance’s Quarterly Roundtable Breakfast in DeFuniak Springs.
Being heavily involved in all of the Okaloosa - Walton Transportation Planning Organization, serving as Walton County Public Works Division Director for over three years, and working for the Florida Department of Transportation for 15 years, Mr. Seigler's experience prepared him to be well versed on this topic.
Walton Transportation Planning Organization has amended their long range plan to include the widening of 331. Options regarding funding, including the possibility of tolls, for the widening of the Clyde B. Wells Bridge are still being discussed.
Also at the Quarterly Roundtable, the Alliance announced its third round of TIDE Award recipients.
