Public entities ranging from the State of Florida to local municipalities partner with Walton County to provide incentive packages specifically crafted to meet the needs of expanding firms. Walton is one of only three counties in Florida to offer three designated enterprise zones. All of them are considered rural in nature and hence can offer expanded benefits, including abatement of sales taxes on building equipment & fixtures, corporate income and sales tax credits for jobs created and selected property tax credits.
Qualified Target Industry Program
Firms doing business in any of six industry sectors may be eligible to receive corporate income, ad valorem and sales tax refunds.
Rural Jobs Tax Credit Program
Tax credits of up to $1500 per new employee
USDA Energy Efficiency Grants
For firms installing renewable energy systems, grants may be awarded for up to 25 per cent of the energy system's cost.
City of DeFuniak Springs
Discounts on utility services for re-activation of businesses that have been closed 18 months or longer.
Land Acquisition Grants
As owner of the undeveloped real properties in the Walton County Industrial Park at Freeport, the EDA can offer grants to firms choosing to locate there, based on the number of new jobs to be created.
